As a third generation Door County business, since 1958, we never imagined that a Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce, and North Shore marketplace news network, just north of Milwaukee could exceeded all our expectations by creating new business and opportunities for our Door County business.

When I launched my business, I was thrilled to meet the Head of the Chamber, Dale Schmidt, a skilled business and marketing professional, that immediately made himself available to help me to organize, participate and even promoted my ribbon cutting.  

His expertise with running, creating, and launching businesses and being in the paper made our party official.  As my business grew, the Glendale Chamber and its members celebrated my successes alongside me.  By attending the NSI-GCC Million Dollar Breakfast Club monthly meetings I increased my comfort speaking in front of the large groups each month.  

When I had any type of concern with local politics, I appreciated how the Glendale Chamber, under Dale’s leadership, was an independent voice and how it was always a champion to growing businesses locally with no compromised vested interest besides that of we, the business owner. Dale, thank you for attending my Mke Job Corp retirement event on December eleventh.

Before I leave Mke Job Corp this week I wanted to express my appreciation for all that the GCC-Glendale Chamber of Commerce has done for Mke Job Corp, under your leadership.

As you have heard me say at the NSI GCC Breakfast Club; the Mke Job Corp belongs to many Chambers and Business Associations, but no one has supported us and done more for us than the GCC Chamber. 

Ever since we joined the GCC Chamber, you have consistently promoted the benefits of our students, graduates and the value our schools technical training programs. You have personally reached out to your members and the business communities, opening doors for us and directly introduced us to many member businesses. 

Through your advocacy actions we have placed graduates and interns with member businesses and given us many new contacts for future placements.

Through the convenience of NSI-GCC Million Dollar Breakfast Club we have made many new contacts all at one time. And Dale, I will always remember you inviting me and many of my students to join the first event ever held at the new Bucks arena just before they opened, and the pre-opening tour they all received. For our students, this was a wonderful experience and inspiring example of what their future life can be.  

And last, I look forward to continuing our relationship in my retirement with you and the newly formed chamber coalition of members educating work desiring young adults on the soft skills of how to successfully communicate with employers and interacting with the public within the service industries.

I recently participated in the Glendale Chamber of Commerce (GCC) B2B Triple Focus Speed Networking event held in the ballroom of the Bavarian Inn. I was so moved by the experience, and the comments from others that I had the chance to speak to that night, that I have not stopped talking about it since.

The hundred plus GCC member business leaders who came from all over the area know what I mean when I say I have never been more impressed, nor have I personally experienced anything quite like this networking event.

If you were unable to attend, I highly recommend that you do not miss the next Speed Networking event that GCC Executive VP-Director, Dale Schmidt, puts on.

I have been a dues paid GCC member for many years and I have known Dale Schmidt even longer. We first met when Dale organized and lead a grassroots movement, of over three thousand North Shore residents. I had the opportunity to work with him to get the DOT to repave a large section of I-43, because of the abusive road noise that resulted in the communities of Glendale, Whitefish Bay and Fox Point, when the DOT mistakenly put a grooved surface on the new highway.  

While I was well aware... of his strong leadership, organizational and community and business advocacy abilities, and the deep passion and enthusiasm that he brought with it... nothing prepared me for what he had planned for us the night of the B2B Speed Networking event.

The energy in the room was high - with each of us taking our turn speaking and then listening to each other, before we moved on to speak to another.  Dale had structured it to be fast-paced and productive, with a speaking limit, so each of us could meet a great deal of people in a short period. After this portion of the event, we had a social hour of great food and follow up conversation.  I have already done business with some that I met at the event and I have a much better insight into what they and other business leaders and owners have to offer.

As GM, Victor Cerda of the Bavarian Inn said - when introducing Dale Schmidt, “anytime we hear that Dale is planning a GCC event we want to participate, because we know it will be worthwhile and well run,” I could not agree more. 

Congratulations to the GCC and Dale Schmidt for putting on another great event for us members. I also look forward to meeting those I have not met at the next GCC networking event. - Sheldon Wasserman State Representative
